Are you looking for food allergy alerts?
Do you follow a dairy free diet? If so, here in the UK it is so easy to get food allergy alerts from the Food Standards Agency.
Did you know you can register for a FREE alert service from the Food Standards Agency?
Food Standards Agency is an independent department of the UK Government. It is there to ensure food standards and safety and sets the rules on food labelling amongst other things. Depending on your reason for being dairy-free, milk as an allergen could be serious and life-threatening. Whilst this website is focused on dairy-free foods, it is only one of the 14 top allergens. If you or someone you know, or care for, is anaphylactic then you might want to register with the Food Standards Agency for their food recall alert service. You can choose to be notified by SMS or email and the frequency of the alerts.
You will need access to an email account or a mobile phone to register. Once you have registered for an account you can choose how you wanted to be notified and the frequency of alerts. You can also choose which of the top 14 allergens you wish to be notified about. So, you can choose just milk, plus any of the other allergens listed, or choose to be notified about all allergens.
If a food product were to contain milk but is not labelled correctly or there has been some contamination risk, this could be a health risk to consumers with a dairy allergy. The Food Standards Agency should then take steps to issue an allergy alert. If you are being cautious due to anaphylaxis, then the more tools you have to manage this, the better. I think the allergy alerts are a great idea and as they are totally FREE, I cannot see what there is to lose, but it might save somebody’s life!
